The Argentine Senate approved the 2026 budget with support from President Javier Milei and allies of the Libertad Avanza coalition, marking a political shift after 80 years of Peronist dominance.
Senator Francisco Paoltroni from Formosa highlighted the official 10% inflation forecast and criticized former leader Cristina Kirchner for her weakened leadership.
"I support the government’s forecast because the drop will mainly come from lower taxes," he said.
He also praised Patricia Bullrich’s inclusion in the Senate, noting her "order, dialogue, and leadership" in the official bloc.
"I’m very happy about this new phase beginning in Congress and the Senate; especially that 80 years ago Peronism didn’t become a minority," Paoltroni remarked.
He discussed the impact of recent elections, stating that "the ballots were decisive in those provinces where Libertad Avanza almost won everywhere," and that this "affects inflation levels."
"The judiciary is an independent power, and the country failed because it was not independent, and none of this would happen if Judge Lijo had joined the Supreme Court," he added.
Paoltroni also expressed dissatisfaction with Governor Gildo Insfrán, calling him a "tyrant" and accusing him of blocking investments in Formosa.
"When he leaves, the province has everything to thrive," he concluded.
"No one is willing to invest in Formosa because of Insfrán," he finished the interview.
